We headed to Villa Badaro on Saturday afternoon for lunch. It was the day before the Marathon and the roads were packed, after struggling to find a parking spot we were more than ready for a nice quiet lunch.
Walking into the terrace surrounded by trees and greenery the place was almost full but our table was waiting for us, we were seated and handed the menu.
The restaurant was so charming, minimal furniture in beautiful sober colors, a fountain, trees and lots of light. The menu has a good variety of dishes without being overwhelming (Check out the Menu here).
Food Rundown
The Cheese Rolls // Thick golden sticks stuffed with a mix of Gouda, Emmental, Parmesan and white Cheddar literally bursting out served with cocktail dipping sauce. This appetizer will make any cheese lover completely lose his/her mind.
The Rock Shrimp Tempura // Quite enjoyable! The crispy batter is almost like a thick dough and not flaky, not too oily and we loved the sprinkled spices on top, gives them this extra kick.
The Curried Shrimp // A subtle dish! taste wise was alright, however the presentation could have been made more appealing had it been platted in a round dish (as featured on their social media channels), also the prawns were served unpeeled and it was very hard to de-shell them with a knife making them a little inconvenient to eat, unless you like to get down and dirty or enjoy eating the shrimp full shell and all.
Despite all that the shrimps were perfectly cooked.
The Wild Beef Brochettes // Served with peppercorn sauce and Basmati rice, it was the star of the day. A beautiful and inviting dish, the beef was tender and juicy and the sauce complimented it very well.
The Pain Perdu // With a craving for something sweet at the end of our lunch we opted for the Pain Perdu served with vanilla ice cream. Although it was not very moist, the pain perdu was fluffy, tender and very enjoyable with the ice cream. A side cup of extra caramel sauce would have made it perfect as the person can add according to his/her taste and preference.
Coconut Cocktail // saw it on Instagram, became very intrigued and just had to try it ! It is fantastic, very similar to the piña colada and comes in this awesome coconut cup .. Just order it!
